Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

By

There’s something about banana bread that feels like a hug — and when you throw in chocolate chips? Instant comfort. This one’s soft, sweet, and perfect for using up those too-ripe bananas.

Ingredients

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour(210g)
  • ¾ cup sugar (150g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 very ripe bananas (1 ½ cups)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter(113g)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (180g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (5ml)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350F (180C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with baking spray (you can use melted butter too).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
  • In a large bowl, mix the vanilla extract, eggs and butter together.
  • Mix in the mashed bananas. (I like to mash the bananas with a fork.)
  • Add the dry ingredients plus the chocolate chips to the large bowl and mix together.
  • Reserve a handful of the chocolate chips and stir the rest into the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, and sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then remove and finish cooling.
